Job Descriptions

Front Desk Personel

The Front Desk handles registration, ticket sales and the wristband exchange. Must be on time.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ticket Sales: Greet and welcome all guests
  • Assist with registration. Make sure patrons get the correct color wristband for their purchase
  • Provide information and answer questions about the Festival
  • Check student ID’s. Handle cash and credit cards (you will be trained
  • Keep track of wristband inventory
  • Do not give wristbands directly to the patron, the wristband must be placed directly on the wrists of all patrons.

Special Requirements: Must be able to handle money and crowds, give directions to the public.

Door Greeter

The major role of the Door Keeper is to check wristbands before a patron enters a venue, classroom. Etc.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome volunteers, performers, and festival-goers
  • Provide information and answer questions
  • Stand at door or area assigned to you
  • Check for appropriate wristband
  • Help keep area clean and tidy
  • Run various errands

Special Requirements:Friendly attitude and help keep classrooms role balanced.

Vendor Set-Up Coordinator

Responsible for assisting the festivals vendors with setup and collecting the vendor fees.

Setup & teardown Crew

Work directly under the supervision and direction of festival crew leader, physically able to do manual labour.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Loading and unloading gear, equipment and tools
  • Moving gear equipment and tools to storage areas or vehicles
  • Various tear down activities could include, taking down tables and chairs, packing up all audio-visual equipment
  • Picking up trash and make rooms look neat and clean for the opening shift the next
  • empty trash cans, assist with dismantling some equipment at venues. (heavy).

Decorators

Work directly under the supervision and direction of festival crew leader and decorating manager, physically able to do manual labour.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Various set up activities could include: Setting up tables and chairs, helping with audio-visual equipment, hanging or erecting signage, decorating.
  • Rolling up mats and installing dance floors
  • Loading and unloading gear, equipment and tools
  • Assorted lifting and moving.

Food & Beverage Manager

Work directly under the supervision and direction of festival Catering coordinator, Food Safe is also an asset.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present food quickly and efficiently on the buffet line
  • Work safely around kitchen equipment
  • Assist with cleanup, garbage and recycling
  • Maintain a healthy work environment (i.e. follow food safe regulations, proper foot ware and clothing, and have hair tied back)
  • Various kitchen tasks could include: dishwashing, sweeping/mopping, and keeping the kitchen and prep areas clean

Door Keeper Manager

Responsible for making sure door keepers and front desk have arrived for shifts and are setup and posted.

Front Desk Manager

The position of front desk manager entails
managing the reception area, coordinating all front desk activities,
and supervising the support staff, front desk managers also compile reports for management, including registration reports and financial information. May be required to attend 1 or more Austin Spring Tango festival board meetings.

Pre-set up before festival requires organizing registration
data and filling envelopes with festival attendees registration packets. Estimated
5 to 8 hours of prep time. After festival
reporting is required.

Schedule

Friday 12:00am-6:30pm & 9:00pm-12:00am.

Saturday 10:00am-4:30am & 9:00pm-1:00am

Sunday 11:30am-3:30pm & 6:30pm -7:30p

Milonga Managers

The primary responsibility  is to host the milonga by ensuring that door keepers have arrived and covered the entryways,

 Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome volunteers, performers, and festival-goers
  • Supervising the support staff and making sure that Milonga is ready to open
  • Provide information and answer questions
  • Make sure DJ are set up
  • Make sure that someone is checking for appropriate wristband
  • Help keep area clean and tidy
  • Run various errands
  • Serve as contact person for issue like harassment, accident or fire

Decorating Manager

Responsible for designing the event theme and directing volunteers on towards the themes vision when decorating at the Milongas. require pre festival planning and decorating the events in a fast pace environment.
